Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
