NL Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five where he loved betting on various card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York to play some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some extra money by becoming an runner for the poker players. He theorized he could improve his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus even more on the game.
The actual improvement in his skills began when he started wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would often compete against each other. Howard was able to access some of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would sharpen his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of NL holdem.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie is one of the greatest female players the poker arena has ever seen. Howard moved to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the following decade. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he made the decision to play more tournaments.
