Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
