NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
