NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
